Listerine mouthwash is a brand of antiseptic mouthwash. Its original formula was well known for its strong flavor. To date Listerine mouthwash has release new flavors and formulas which have a milder taste. Listerine mouthwash is marketed with the slogan “kills the germs that cause bad breath” and it was named after Joseph Lister who advocated the use of sterilizing instruments for surgery to prevent infection. Listerine mouthwash is one of the most popular mouthwashes sold in the US. At first it was manufactured by Warner-Lambert but is not currently manufactured and distributed by Johnson & Johnson. The Listerine brand name is also used on toothpaste, whitening rinse, new Listerine Fluoride rinse, Listerine Agent Cool Blue, PocketPaks and PocketMist.
